Philosophy of Counselor Tutoring

Philosophical practitioners provide tutorial services to children and adolescents whose parents would like their child or children to develop a philosophical attitude in addition to learning how to think both critically as well as creatively. The academic model that is typically employed is based on Bloom’s Taxonomy as follows:

Taxonomy

Knowledge

Knowledge represents material that was implicitly learned.

Comprehension

Comprehension is a inferential process of understanding derived from a collection of data stemming from a question.

Application

Applications follows in the form of understanding that recognizes a set of principles, ideas, rules, equations, or methods to be implemented concerning all available pertinent data.

Analysis

Analysis is a deductive  process of breaking the problem into derivative parts or logical components so that hierarchical sub-problems concerning ideas are made clear while the relationships between these ideas are rendered explicit.

Synthesis

Synthesis is a process whereby parts are reformed in the formation of a new whole.

Evaluation

Once dilemmas have been resolved or problems solved, such resolutions or solutions that have been synthesized, remain to be evaluated.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16).
